Thanks, Robbie. Added to useful websites directory. But everyone be aware that France has always favoured mobile surprise traps and the flics can be very sneaky with these.

Merci monsieur. Off to the Alps shortly for part one of the annual two-part No Do$h pilgrimage to all things steep and snowy.

They're expecting a dump this weekend (fingers crossed). Historically the northern Alps have had very little until Xmas week anyway. Could be interesting if I spend the first few days on my new skis boucing off rocks.....

Luckily we're only 20 miles from the Mont Blanc Tunnel so can blat through to Courmayer on the Italian side in 90 minutes or so if things don't improve. They've got about 60cm on the upper slopes at present. Will mean an early start each morning, but hey, this is skiing!

I'm jealous of anyone skiing over Christmas

I'm off to the Dolomites in early Jan. Snows OK there now but more would be good.

wonder what the hire car will be this time - I'm going cheap so probably a focus

We're driving down, all part of the fun. Mind you, the Dolomites are another 4 hours or so, so perhaps not such a great idea to drive through....

Having checked the one I know well on A75 just North of Lodeve, it shows it as a 80k trigger. Unless it it has changed in the last 2 months it is actually set at 70k! in a 70 limit. No tolerance.

Be wary that other information might also be misleading.

The police have now started using silver colored (Renault Scenics?) according to one recent French motoring magazine for mobile traps.

PS the weather here is worse than London, colder and wetter today.

Fortunately this year we are trudging down in the L200 so speeds in excess of the limit will be few and far between. Plus the chap driving the other car was nabbed by les flics last year whilst, er, testing an Audi TT so he wants to take it easy.

Thanks for the tip-offs nevertheless.
