Took siginificant other to Paris for a nice few days break. Astonished at the number of Parisian motorcyclists who smoked as they motorcycled. What class! What next? a glass of fine red wine?

Barry Sheene had a hole drilled in his helmet so he could smoke on the grid.

Not sure if urban myth, but doesn't the Honda Goldwing have an ashtray?
|
No ashtray, but I think it does have a cigarette lighter.
Oops, better change that to "accessory socket" before I am arrested by the health police.

When I was working in Delft, one of our workers would come in in the morning with a large cigar poking out of his full-face helmet.

In Italy some new law allows the police to confiscate motorcycles for all sorts of trivial offences, including smoking while riding them. The Italians are not too happy about this se we can expect the law to be revoked.

I used to smoke on my motorbike. The only problem was the effect of trying to smoke in what was effectively a 60 mph wind! The fag would last about 3 puffs, and the rider would recieve a massive nicotine hit.
Also rather tricky in a full face helmet...

I knew a guy that had a cigarette rolling machine screwed to the bars of his FJ900. I never saw it in action, mind.

I was in Italy when the police started to (half-heartedly) enforce the rules re "trivialities" on motor-cycles, etc.
This included wearing a helmet ( under half the riders we saw were doing so ) , carrying children - not only without helmets , but in one case we saw, standing on a scooter running-board .
There was even a TV programme , a la Kilroy , to discuss whether the police were right to try to stop people having fun like this ...
