I think this is the site refered to:- www.pocketgps.co.uk/ I have found this site to be of great use, and offer the free database for just about all sat-nav systems.

HJ,
I don't have Tom-Tom but
pocketgpsworld.com/
seems to be the place to go, specifically
pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
and if you need help, their forums are the Satnav equivalent of HJ's forums for motoring!!
Also try
www.navigating.de/TomTom_en/POI/Index.htm

Just to veer away from the subject only slightly, yesterday's local paper reported that the Merseyside region's safety cameras are having extra film put in them.
Last month it had been revealed that fixed speed cameras had been set to let off many motorists because officers could not cope with the number of tickets being produced.
It was believed that many more motorists broke the speed limit or went through red lights, but escaped punishment because they passed cameras which could not record number plates due to the fact the film had run out or there was no film in them at all.
To emphasise the difference, some 15,068 drivers landed themselves £60 files and three penalty points between April 2004 and March of this year - since April this year to September the figure jumped 22,683 drivers after the setting up of a safety camera partnership and hiring of extra staff to monitor and maintain cameras.

PS, speed camera warnings also available for continent.
Try these sites (I've not downloaded them myself 'cos my old system is generally not supported)

Hi HJ,
Only just got to do some browsing after a hectic weekend.
The link to Checkpoint that I was writing about was given in my original post and others have mentioned the pocketgps website (that I also use) despite this not being the subject of the thread.
Some more info though that may be of use if you are going to post links with any explanation of benefit:
The pocketgps download is almost certainly the most popular free one used in the UK and is maintained very up to date in my experience. I have only reported two "missing" cameras but they were both included in the next update a month or two later. The downloaded files function as an overlay (effectively X-Y coordinates plus some info about the object (POI=Point of interest) at each set of coordinates that TomTom and other GPS applications can read. In our context these POIs are speed cameras.
TomTom5 brought the benefit of allowing warning sounds to be added on approach to any enabled POIs but this functionality is quite basic: Only a set distance regardless of speed can be set (so 30 limit warnings are given way way to far in advance if setup has been optimised for NSL) and only the TomTom pre-loaded sounds can be used.
This is where CheckPOInt steps in; as well as being another overlay (and therefore increasing the chance of a speed camera being known if you also use pocketgps) it also:
> Allows any .wav file you wish to be used, hence me choosing cashreg.wav
> It allows first alerts and final alerts
> Alerts are tailored by time not distance, both in terms of first and final and also camera type by camera type; I have therefore set higher speed cameras to trigger sooner than slower speed limit ones
> A PDA button can be configured to allow easy recording of any camera that you pass that is not listed. On doing this the current GPS position of your PDA is stored and you are asked to choose the camera type from a list to accompany the record. The next time you sync with the website that hosts the service, your new discoveries are uploaded and you download those discovered by others.
> Overlays for some other European countries exist and I have also used them successfully when abroad
OAB software run cleansing scripts to try and ensure accuracy and they seem to work; I think it's excellent stuff. Fantastic that it is so professional and also absolutely free.

Okay, to be exact; checkpoint.oabsoftware.nl/ is the website that allows download of the CheckPOInt application. The actual overlay data with speed camera locations is at poiplace.oabsoftware.nl/index.php
Cheers for now.

Oh, there's more... (Mods feel free to combine this and the last two post in to one! ;-)
Checkpoint features also include
> Being able to choose the encompassed angle of approach in which cameras are warned about
> Where the speed limit is known by the application (pretty often since cameras are categorized by speed limit not just by Gatso / SPECs or whatever) then it is also possible to set a "speed limit is being broken" reminder
> Now a neat touch; having triggered the first one, SPECs cameras are shown as distance to run to the next one, the speed limit in force, and your average speed so far to help you drop back if necessary.
I *think* that's all.
As I said before, pretty good for a freebie.
For anyone with an ounce of technical knowledge, then a PDA with all this plus the fact that it is a PDA and can do all the things expected of a pocket computer is a far better bet than a "TomTom GO" and their "plug and play" ilk.
