BMW Cassette cover

BMW Cassette cover - Dogbreath
Its a mystery but last week the fake-wood hinged cover to the cassette player closed perfectly now it remains open and won't catch when I push it down.

Is there an easy answer or am I facing another rip-off trip to the dealer?
