Only 3 days into 2006 & seen my 1st 2 candidates for muppet of the year. Driving my truck on the M6 this morning (4am) at the M6/A442/M6 toll junction I noticed a fellow in a Rover 25 reverse from the chevrons back across the slip road onto the hard shoulder. No2 muppet was the guy only 2 mins later driving from the unlit to lit section in the same area with no lights on with all n sundry flashing him but he carried on regardless.
Looks like its going to be a good year :-)

Last night on the A452 to the East of Birmingham (in the dark) an idiot driving a private hire minibus overshot his exit on a roundabout. Rather than going around again he decided to reverse back to his target, continuing his crazy manouvre despite there being 2 cars (myself and another) behind him trying to use the roundabout in the conventional way. I was too gobsmacked even to think about sounding my horn. It probably took him longer to complete this crazy turn than it would have to go around again. With that single action he proved that he has no right to hold a driving licence at all, let alone a position as a taxi driver.

Just before Christmas I was in a busy contraflow (without cones) on a dual carriageway which was being resurfaced East-bound. The car in front of me was trying to overtake the car in front of him (yup, by using the oncoming lane). After three or four absolute classic brown-trouser moments for him, he gave up. It was only for about 4km and we were all still doing 90kph, but that wasn?t fast enough for him.

What about the Channel 4 filler, where a guy in a C-Class cuts into his exit at some road works at the very last fraction of a second, leaving two monster, but straight, skid marks. He calculated it perfectly, but the whole thing was caught on camera so I guess he was too.

I always thought that was computer trickery. Who would have a TV camera in a car on a motorway?

Probably set up.....its what passes for art these days that sort of thing.

I've always thought that particular bit was partially computer generated, certainly the cones and skid marks don't look real.

And the "4" logo defies gravity (in the fall down sense that is)
