Looked pretty good actually.
Ford Freedom Limited (I think)
Looked like a Mondeo estate on steroids - LHD so probably a US import.
Anyone know anything about it?
Could it have been the new Mondeo Estate which is shown in Paris Motor Show soon:

There is another thread on the new Mondeo.

Maybe one of these? although I doubt there is an estate version.

I have seen the five Hundred in the US, good looking, might sell well here, it is facelifted for 2007, reckon the previous one looked better. It has optional 4WD, IIRC basically the X-Type system.
Actually a search brings up links to the XC90 4WD system.
That´s it! The Freestyle. Sorry, got the name wrong - too silly a name to remember.
It looked better proportioned in the metal than it does in the photos, and it´s BIG. Dwarfed the Astra.
Looked better with painted bumpers.
Thanks,

Perhaps it's really a Rover!
Facelifted Ford Escape/Ford Maverick II/Mazda Tribute, surely?

It seemed more estate-like than 4x4ish, if you know what I mean.

>>Facelifted Ford Maverick II/Mazda Tribute, surely?<<
Why?

You´d have drooled Adam - it was finished in a fetching shade of Harvest Gold
Yes Harvest Gold, a popular colour in the US of A.
How is your wardobe of hawiian shirts and size 96 trousers Adam?

Alright thanks RF. I'm fast running out of stylish baseball caps though.

From that photo, that was my reaction but apparently it's a much bigger and very different car.
I admit that it looks like they got the Porsche Book of Styling Tricks out for it, but it's actually built on the D3 platform like the Five Hundred, XC90 and S60/V70/S80.

Oh no... Ford gets the Rover name and then you find they have a Mercury Mondeo... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Montego
I thought I cut and paste Mercury Montego... doh.
Looking at:
www.mercuryvehicles.com/montego/exteriorphotos.asp
This reaffirms my opinion that this and the Ford 500 are based on the chassis of our current Ford Mondeo. Different to XC90/S60/V70/S80. But the new Mondeo for 2007 shares things with future and some current Volvos.
So what you're saying is that Ford are going to use the Mercury to replace the old bug-eyed Scorpio? And call it a Rover Montego?
I hope I wasn't saying that. And I hope they are not thinking that! It was a joke reference. I didn't know Ford had a Montego until tonight. I run away scared. :-)

No, I thoght the 500 was Mondeo / X-Type based though it seems that it is more closely related to the Volvos albeit with the 3.0 Duratec.
