www.betterdrivingplease.com
From my local rag "Motorists can name and shame bad drivers on an Oxfordshire man's new website. Drivers and pedestrians can report bad driving to www.betterdrivingplease.com - complete with the errant motorist's licence plate number - in the latest example of cyber-policing.
Andrew McGavin, from Burford, hopes the website will make roads safer. Offences are rated on a traffic light system, with the worst getting a red light and a more minor incident receiving an amber light."
Seems like a lotal waste of time to me, but still.

I would have thought questionnable from a legal point of view as well.

Indeed, no corroboration of the "complaints" comments. No check on the eyesight of the complainants, or their memory.

Reading some of those it looks like a lot of sad people have too much time on their hands and nothing better to do.

"people have too much time on their hands and nothing better to do"
Tell me everything you've done today that doesn't include food, tv or PS2.

I got sent a link to this site a few weeks ago, so went on and gave myself a glowing report in the green light section:)
|
|
I've just been on again to look for it, but it must have never been "approved" ;)
|
Is there a way of listing all the number plates on the site so that I can print them off? I can then consult the list as I am driving along to make sure that I am aware of their low standard of driving and attention to the road!

Surely consulting a list whilst driving would make you as bad as them!!!
What's you registration so I can add it to the red section.
Just my observation.

I read frequently, but only post when I have something useful to say.

I liked this one
"This vehicle had stopped in the middle of two lanes, with hazard lights on, using mobile phone and was causing traffic jams."
Broken down perhaps?

That's simply not tr....oh wait.
Yeah - it is actually.

Extremely questionable from a legal point of view because ti is prima facie libel. The link has been stopped so it does not come from this site.

I've seen it all now! Just glad that no vehicle I drive is listed! I'd be very interested to hear how the illegal publication of vehicle details will make the roads safer.
|
A quick sort by number plate helps.
I'm distressed to say I'm not on there. On a recent drive to Leeds I put some chewing gum into my mouth by recklessly taking one hand off the wheel. I also turned over from Radio4 to Radio2 at 7:30, then back at 9:30. I'm ashamed that no-one else noticed.

That has to be saddest website I've ever seen!
I'd be more worried about the sanity of the people posting than of those being posted about. The one about the car stationary in the middle lane and on the phone is presumably a joke or posted by someone who's completely lost the plot. Maybe it's not a joke - I once had the clutch cable break on a Clio and was stuck at some traffic lights with my hazards flashing, bonnet up awaiting the AA. I was a the side of the road reading a book when some guy drove very slowly past me tutting and shaking his head. No idea what he was thinking - presumably in his own distorted world view I had got to a good bit of the plot and decided to park at the traffic lights and finish the chapter! People like that need to chill out a little!

Some people just love to point the finger don't they.
What a pointless website.
I bet some poor so and so (probably me) ends up on there through a geniune mistake.
The rest of it will be populated with BMW drivers (now theres a generalisation).

'I once had the clutch cable break on a Clio and was stuck at some traffic lights with my hazards flashing, bonnet up awaiting the AA'
You're right that it's situation that can be unavoidable but next time just turn off the engine, then when it's all clear put it in 1st gear and start the car. It will start and you can travel in 1st to the side of the road where you can then turn off the engine again (or knock it out of gear whilst coasting). Safer and it won't clog up a road for an hour or so.
|
|
...in fact even if you break down and the engine won't start you can always move the car with the starter motor if you are in a bad position. It won't kill your car.

..unless it's a cambelt failure! Oh for an edit button!

Reports to date = 203
Either not a very popular website, or people have got better things to do than report their fellow motorist.

After reading a couple of pages of dross, I recommend that the contributors visit Cairo for a few days.
