A very pretty motor and less in your face than the ST. Subtle.

....and certainly nicer than a 1 Series.

Though the back end might be "an acquired taste".

I'm reserving judgement until I see one in the flesh, because in the photos the rear end looks awful to my eye. Nice to see an alternative to the Focus for us badge snobs!

...subtle and exquisitely good looking...
*puzzled look* not quite used to some of the humour here

S40 / V50 T5 perhaps better alternative to ST than C30.

I was planning on spending about £16-17K on a used ST-2 as there seem to be quite a few on the market.
The Volvo C30 whilst no doubt a good looking motor is a smidge out of my price range as the basic T5 is near enough £21.5K. If Volvo are only importing 5,000 a year I can't imagine dealers will need to offer much of a discount to shift them.
Still looking for more answers to my original question folks!

Hi. I went looking around a few forums for info on the ST the other day and people were talking about getting 230 - 300 miles from a tank. Assuming they are using 11 gal from the 55L/12gal tank that is 21 - 27 MPG. Some were achieving <350 miles per tank on long runs (say 32 MPG).

There's definately something odd about the back of the Volvo. Reminds me of this

Have completed 16000 miles over 6 months consisting of 70 mile daily round trip commute, long trips at weekends and local work as 'dad's taxi'. Typical range between refills is 290- 330 miles (10.5 -11 galls) which works out between 28 and 32 mpg. You can get much better with long trips if you keep the average 'around' the UK limit and local driving dips to around 23 mpg. Any long term abuse (ie constantly using > 5000rpm on the upchanges) with the right foot significantly affects these figures downwards.
