HJ,
Is there any possibility that you can make the pictures in your road test clickable so they enlarge?
Just an idea.

Pretty sure HJ has already answered this one, but cannot find it via forum search.
|
Or perhaps I can ;o)

I knew the "search king" would find a thread that I had missed on the subject!!! ;o) - still think that HJ/the site is missing out by have small pictures only though!!

Pictures the size of a postage stamp do not do it for me....
If the pictures could only be seen in a larger format by logged in members that would limit the bandwidth issues somewhat, for a start. It's possible that advertisers might be prepared to pay more to appear on a page where such pictures were presented, which could even mean that they showed a profit, not a loss.

C
If enough people are interested in this could they perhaps be put on the HJ msn thingy that is accessible to members?
As in

Quite an abrupt end to that thread from honestjohn!

It would also be useful if a reminder came up in the "sticky" threads at the top of the board when a new test has been published - I'm sure a lot of people come direct to the Discussion board. With the Auris thread recently there were lots of replies quoting other sources, and HJ had to remind people his test had also been posted. Admit I'm guilty of not checking!

Phil's idea is a very good one, simple, free and MSN are happy as views = ad revenue.

I don't still have all the pix for all 262 road tests. Would be a mammoth job to reformat them all and upload them all somehow. But this sort of thing is currently up for discussion. Might be something that gets done for future tests, or for more recent tests.
New Road tests in the last week: FIAT Bravo, Honda Civic Type R, Audi S3.
Just click on 'Road Tests' in the menu.

Firstly, just to say that I enjoy your road test writing style & testing priorities/focus.
As there is now quite a body of work in the Road Test section, might not an index of some kind be useful -
by make/model , as per the excellent Car-by-Car breakdown? The 'Car-by-Car' also has the useful
'link to HJ roadtest' (when available) - perhaps that could even be reciprocated in a Road Test index, i.e.
it points to any available 'Car-by-Car' data - again when available. Or go the whole hog and
fully cross-reference the 2 sections?
I know the 'site search' will reveal HJ roadtests, but sometimes they're camouflaged or on page 2+
behind the market news etc. - an 'HJ road test' tag on html 'keywords' would enable your 'site search' algorithms
to top-of-page it.
cheers

I have to confess that this has never worried me! You can find any number of pictures on a manugacturer's website or in the motoring magazines. What's so valuable about HJ's tests is that he tells it as it is - what a car is like for us to drive and use everyday. Please feel encouraged, HJ - they're great as they are.

|
Agree, although I find you need to read a number of tests, see who has written them, adjust bias control as necessary, and then take an average, which usually ends up pretty close to HJs original opinion. Recent Autocar and What Car test have been completely contradictory, whilst Top Gear (magazine) tests are al over the shop.
