CCTV Parking tickets - paul2007
Hello

In the link below and I've just read the sticky here re cctv parking enforcement.

www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news....0

I was booked by a cctv in Newham/London on the Monday I think it was in October 2006 as I parked in a side street on yellow lines, blocking no one, did not see signs - was out shopping for Indian food in Green Street in east London Newham = CCTV operators sent me a ticket for parking five mins in a no loading unloading area. I was not blocking anyone and I was in the car as my wife and daughter bought the meal.

The Daily Mail in the above link talks as though this is new, ie cctv tickets.

Can you help as i paid rather than o back and show then the line was broken as most yellow lines are not enforceable because they have been dug up or worn away - that was my first ticket in the 20 years I've driven.

Can't give a definitive answer but you need to be aware that London has been the testbed for various bits of civilianised traffic enforcement ever since parking was passed to the Boroughs on the early 90s. Quite likley that this includes camera enforcement.

You should have appealed at the time Paul.

Having accepted the infringement two years ago I would forget and move on......

With deference to DVD there's a FAQ about this on the site and there's going to be a lot abouit it in the 3rd May edition of the HJ column which I just put to bed. As usual the Brits have been very slow to wake up to the fact that security cameras installed for their protection will very soon be used against them to extract yet more Transgression Tax. Time to start thinking of the UK tax system like Direct Insurance. Not too dear to start with, but commit any offences at all and they milk you like a Yak.
