The latest generation Mercedes C-class has become only the second car to achieve
five stars in Europe?s leading independent crash tests confirmed Euro NCAP today.

The four stars given to the Mondeo does not reflect the comments about the strength of its bodyshell.........the new Vectra is apparantly a much stronger construction.

The Vectra got 12 points for front impact; 18 for side impact. The Mondeo got 10 points for front impact; 18 for side impact. Not a lot of difference.

And don't ever think your safe with all that metal around you in a Frontera. That only scored 5 points for front impact, together with the comment, "the bodyshell was unstable". For front impact in the same tests, the new Jeep Cherokee scored 9, the new Honda CRV scored 11. and the new Range Rover scored 12, but was criticised for the severe danger it poses to pedestrians.

I noted that the current C class got its 5th star for "seatbelt warning" thats a bit rich!Surely theres more to it than that?
