I never tried to kid you it was beaufiul.

But tell me another 4 seater petrol car under 100g/km?

(Actually, the Aygo might be soon.)

The list price if c £9700 if I recall correctly.

So I can Save £30 on VED versus a Ka if I spend £3000 more..

A 100 year payback!

Sure fire thing.. not.

I'm more concerned with bhp/£ than g/km.

Have to inject my 2p worth here. At the risk of sounding trite, the IQ isn't meant to be beautiful. The front isn't certainly! But look at Toyota now. They're discontinuing the Celica, concentrating mainly on smaller, more utilitarian cars. I have to say that this is, IMO of course, a very astute move, destined to garner Toyota even more deserved riches. Its position alongside Ford and GM looks positively incredible, probably because it's more inventive than many manufacturers. As the squeeze is increasingly put on us motorists (and it will continue), small Toyotas with their bullet-proof mechanics and relatively amazing NCAP ratings are looking like the ones to go for.

Again, as someone who doesn't "know" the trade, I'm looking at the new Toyota offerings not so much as "new small cars" but as cars we will need to use if motoring is to be affordable in the longer term. And in that objective, Toyota is (very quiety) leading the way.

Anyone selling in Europe has to get their fleet average below 130g/km by 2011 or suffer fines rising to 95 Euros for every gram over for every car sold by 2015. Some allowance is made for weight, but not much. Hence the electric Porsche, hydrogen BMW, hybrid S Class, etc. And Andreas Formeca hinted that, like the IQ, the Aygo 1.0 would soon be below 100g/km.
