Release date goes back to May? - tawse
I was just browsing on the Toyota website and notice now that the release date of the Toyota Cruiser says May 2009. When I first looked back in January it was saying March 2009.

I think this is the Verso replacement?

I assume it is the depression - I mean, credit crunch - that is causing this launch back?

No. Not the Note-like Ractis:-

The Urban Cruiser is a small, low CO2 SUV with 2WD or 4WD. More here:-

I get to drive it along with the new (Corolla sized) Verso on 26th/27th March.

Looking forward to the 4WD review of the Urban Cruiser (awful name though) and the Skoda Yeti (Strange but slightly better name).

Hmm, pity the Urban Cruiser has gone back to May - if it had been on sale in March, as per originally stated on Toyota's website, I probably would have gone for one.

Having said that, I probably would not be able to get my legs under the steering wheel and my head would have been banging against the roof :-)

No there`ll be an Verso based on the Auris which has been put back from its intended replacement date.

Thanks - that is interesting to know. Seems that Toyota is moving several cars back, presumably due to the depression. When I last read about the Verso replacement, in the Autumn, I was reading March 2009 as a launch date and had a Toyota dealer confirm that to me.

Hence why I naturally assumed the Urban Cruiser was going to be the new Verso - it too is based on the Auris floorplan is it not? I like the look of the Urban Cruiser but March has already become May and, with no sign of the economy getting better, I wonder if May will become September? :-)

I love Toyotas internally even if they are bland on the outside. Everytime a new Toyota comes out I find myself wanting to buy one - with the exception of the last 'old man's Avensis - but as soon as I sit in them I find that I am simply too tall. I keep living in hope that Toyota will built bigger cars - what a fool I am - for taller people. The only exception to their 'small inside' being the Verson.

The Verso is still on my possible buy list along with the CRV but I was very out off, a few weeks back, when I discovered that the spare wheel is underneath the rear of the car and held on by a bolt and screw. I could barely remove it in the dry and safety of the showroom and it worried me greatly how I would feel trying to remove it on the side of the road, let alone get a wheel back on there - you needed 3 hands IMPO.

Thanks - that will definitely be too small for me. It looks big in the video on their site.
