Does anyone know what the refinement particularly ride and noise levels are like for the new Toyota Verso? I've read HJ's road test but I don't think he covers these areas preferring to concentrate on practicality. I'm also not convinced by the comment about "prices will inevitably rise" but that's getting off topic.

Ride is mentioned and demonstrated on a bad road surface in the video test. If you want refinement, go for the 1.8 CVT-7, not the 2.0 diesel manual or 2.2 diesel auto. And of course prices will rise if Sterling rains down against other currencies. They have not yet risen to balance the current disparity.

Clicked on the link to Toyotas web site. Only prices for old model. Do you have prices yet HJ?
(In the road test, Spood. HJ.)

Thanks HJ that's useful info.
FWIW once the BOE decide that inflation and not deflation is the problem (or after the election) then interest rates will go back up and the pound should strengthen - at least that's the theory. Just hope we don't get into hyperinflation.

By this time next year interest rates will be on the rise. Potentially, they could shoot back up to 5 or 6 percent within a few months of 2010.
The only thing that might stop this is a global deflationary spiral in which case the strength or weakness of Sterling will be immaterial as, like Japan in the 1990s, the price of goods will be falling and that will include new cars.
I noticed HJ's comments in his video, like the idea of an auto Verso but I can't see how the ride would improve much as the car looks more or less the same - unless they have changed all the underpinings.
I would give it till the end of the Summer and would expect to see the new model turning up on online broker sites for considerable discounts.

The Verso was always priced competively and you could always get a decent discount .
I would expect it to be the same on the new Verso.
Its good to hear that they have dropped the MMt gearbox it was problematic !! the new one seems a much better proposition

For those interested, there is a very good article on the Moneyweek homepage today about why the Pound is strengthening and why the price of imports will soon stabilise as the Dollar weakens.
