To be perfectly honest HJ I assumed that was a private buyer.

My thoughts exactly. But crazy bidding. Even the auctioneer was laughing at one point.
I was keen on the 00X Xedos Miller in the same sale, I was pleased when they started describing it in such glowing terms (how rare it is and, apparently how it has 4 wheel steering!) as it generally means they know how hard it is to shift... but a dealer still paid £1000 more than I was hoping for.

The possible mileage adjustment is intresting especially if you could followit through to the end user.Dont be too cynical!

I got cold and left before the Xedos 9 Miller Cycle. Took a look at the very expensive tyres it needed and thought of the ultra complex belt cam V6 24v + supercharger engine and the lack of parts or expertise to fix it and figured not worth waiting for. What did it go for?

You should try standing under the heaters at either end of the seating. Toasty.
It was getting close to new tyres, but the engine sounded sweet enough and everything else was in reasonable shape. It sold for £9,200 to 'Jimbo', I was only ready to pay £8,250. Surprising amount of interest/excitement. Maybe it was the Sunday Times secondhand Xedos review a couple of weeks ago.

Too much. Definitely needed two front tyres. Wasn't perfect either. It's only good news to buy a car like this on spec if its silly cheap. Imagine selling it on for £500 profit, then having to take the car back with a major problem that can;t quickly be fixed due to lack of parts. That's what gave me extra cold feet.

Move a car on for £500 and stand on for major problems, sounds dangerous to me.

Take £2k profit and the public will think you're ripping them off. It's okay by them for an optician to charge £100 for a frame that cost him £10, but it isn't okay for a car dealer to make £2,000 on a car that cost him £8,000. It's not the margin that bothers the public, it's the amount of profit.

If this had been at a smaller provincial sale I would have a limit of £7500 and probably stood a good chance under that. Certainly not ready for retail, especially with no docs - I was surprised to see a dealer buy it at £9200. I was only going to £8250 because I particularly wanted one for a little while - and even that was allowing for a 'Blackbushe premium'.
I think this was probably the final straw for Blackbushe. If you can't get a car like this cheap on a Wednesday, when are you going to get a bargain?
