"get them just before the telephone rings"
Me too......weird.
Hurman.......bet you pushed the shopping trolley, you little tinker, you.
I think this is car related, 'cos my pal was getting out of his car outside my house. Many moons ago, age 18/19, I was having a Saturday morning lie-in, when I suddenly awoke from a deep sleep with a violent chest pain. In that woolly waking state, I was convinced I was having a heart attack. A few seconds later, it disapeared as I came to my senses, and I heard a car door slam outside. My pal arriving. Came in for a coffee and left half an hour later, agreeing to meet in pub Saturday night. He didn't turn up that night. Discovered later, his father died after a heart attack, at the precise moment I awoke that morning.
I hid in a cupboard for a month after that!

I don't beleive in superstition but: [1]
At 4am on one night I woke up terrified having dreamed about a death mask being stamped on and shattered.
In the morning I found that my Grandmother had died in the night...
Must be a cooincidence but a strange one at that...
[1] Except for the usual hopes of immortality.

This is some spooky stuff, perfect for these long nights.
When I was in Ibiza a friend & I parked our hire car in town and went for a wander round. When we returned, no car.
We found our way to the local polis and the car was chained up outside as it had been illegally parked. The policeman stamped our papers for an hour or so. He tlooked us up and down before imposing the fine of about £125. Cash only. This was literally within a few pesetas of what we were carrying.
I wonder if the policeman had some kind of special premonition linked to gullible tourists?

My late wife had loads of premonitions all the time!
Sadly, she died very suddenly of a brain haemorrhage but about a week before she took her wedding ring off (after 15 years) and asked me to wear it around my neck. She said it had started 'irritating' her finger but there was no sign of any rash etc.
Most poignantly, the day before she died, out of the blue she suddenly told me what music she'd like for her funeral !! I was in such a state after the event that I couldn't remember what it was at first but eventually I did and it made the service all the more emotional.
There were many, many other examples over the years and I really believe she had some form of 'gift'.

I was very badly cut up on a roundabout in Milton Keynes once by a baseball cap type. He was driving like a complete loony, driving way too fast, wrong side of road etc.
I muttered to myself watch it mate or you'll be in the ditch...sure enough three or four roundabouts later he was.
Wishful thinking rather than premonition I think...
|
Yeah, I get them to: about phone calls, text messages, e-mails from a certain person and also when I'm driving. It's a sort of sixth sense attached to our instincts. Trust it. Don't argue with it or be sold away from it.

I have them in court every day along the lines of
(a) CPS have lost the file - but I'm ready to run
(b) Case going well until defendant gets in the box (usually aganist my advice)
(c) Police witnesses fail to show up
(d) CPS offers a deal under any of the above circumstances.
(Sorry - been one of them days - when all of the above happened.)

Wow, that was close! I nearly got rude about lawyers......
Bark!

I knew you were going to say that.

I reckon 'premonitions' are based on previous experience which may not be consciously recalled. All part of the human survival strategy.

i was watching videos of "the who" all night, and woke up the next morning to find john had died
very spooky
i have an even more spooky experience, but wont say cos it cares me still
yea i've also had the "the silly old dear is going to pull onto the ring road the wrong way" premonition, and shortly after see the little grey haired lady driving head on into traffic the wrong way
even had the "i bet the cops let her off cos she is an old dear" premonition, and yep they did
keep safe everyone

I've had a strange feeling that something wasn't right one morning, as did my broher, the very same morning, the radio disappeared...
Unfortunately it did nothing to help when someone tried again with the replacement radio a few weeks later. I was sat at work, when I answered the department phone not long before we shut and it was security to say that someone had tried to break into my car. I had no idea that time.
To give you some background, the call centre where I work is situated in a very high car crime area, and there are a few spaces right on the front of the building within sight of the main entrance, and the rest are tucked away, out of sight, round a darkened side of the building. Earlier that same day I had moved the car from the nasty bit round to a space right on the front of the building. I'm still not sure whether that decision resulted in them choosing my car, or whether it stopped them getting away with it. They ended up getting disturbed by a girl leaving the building, so if it had been round the dark bit, they would never have been disturbed.

Have had quite a lot of these 'premonitions' - can't think of any driving-related ones offhand so won't bore you by taking thread off-topic - but to PMason, the author of this thread, don't feel silly about what you posted - it's quite possible you experienced something that most people wouldn't, and it's quite probable that many share your experiences, although maybe many won't admit to it. I admire your courage in sharing these stories, and in particular your second story sounds unprovable to me, apart from the explanation you are giving.
If anyone else has had these experiences related to driving please let us know, there are loads of people out here who would love to hear.

HF - "there are loads of people out here who would love to hear" - how do you know? Or is THAT a premonition too??

Well when I said that, I meant that there are loads of people generally who are very interested in this kind of thing. I wasn't making the assumption that there are loads of people on this site who are interested, of course I don't know whether that's the case or not. Didn't make myself clear and for that I offer my most humble apologies.

Can't have been wishful thinking. I regularly wish for the same thing but it's never happened yet.

not had premonitions when driving but very often get them just before the telephone rings.
I read some research on this and apparently you have the "premonition" after the ring but your brain misunderstands the messages coming in and sets you thinking that the "premonition" came first.
I rmember the article told how they tested the theory, but I've had a bit of a liquid lunch, so I can't remember it.
