i'm watching and waiting.
but DPF technology is now in its 3rd or 4th phase.
instead of injecting extra diesel into the combustion chambers and hoping the extra heat generated will regenerate the DPF, most of the new ones now inject diesel directly into the DPF and ignite it directly. So no more sumps full of diesel and engines running uncontrollably on the sump oil.
that was not a problem with PSa/Ford and Mercedes DPFs because they use an additive to regenerate.
but a lot of first generation PSa DPFs (or FaPs, as they call them) are now coming to the ebd of their lived and needing to be replaced anyway, at around £500 a pop.
that can make you think a bit when an ageing 406 or c5 diesel with a 'FaP' may only be worth £1,000 - £1,500.
