What is the CI bit for?

Commonrail injection maybe?

I *think* DD has hit the nail on the head.

Don;t go near the Corolla, the Focus is a better handling car that will cost you less to maintain and is equally as respected as the Corolla. The Focus has set the standard that the Corolla can *try* to match. :) Besides, the Focus looks nicer IMO.

many many many customer satisfaction surveys show the corolla beats the focus hands down
Ford Focus TDCI - Blue {P}
Yeah, but whatever they say, the Focus will ALWAYS be more popular than the Corolla, will always have lower servicing and repair costs, and will for the forseeable future handle better than the Corolla. AFAIK.

But then I am totally biased, and would snap yor hand off if you offered me a Focus, but would have to have a long think about whether I would replace the Fiesta for a Corolla. :)

Woosey - Just stick with the Focus, remember, no matter how hard Toyota try to shift it, the Corolla still has traces of an "old man car" image. :)

And with that I think I'll go to bed and will probably be back in two days time when I've finsihed working my entire weekend ready to have a relaxing week at Uni! I wish :)

And the "old-man" image means that all the customers fill out the satisfaction surveys that the happy Ford owners can't be bothered to do-they're too busy enjoying driving.

Well said Blue Oval, I have a pal with a TDCI can it move, but lift the bonnet and oh my think it will be a main dealer job.
HJ once told me not to buy a ford TDDI anyone know why, are they
not as good as the TDI and why, I had my TDI for three years, six years old when I sold it, cost set of heater plugs, and a battery, not bad for Ford.>> Yeah, but whatever they say, the Focus will ALWAYS be more

Check road test of the Corolla on this site. The steering is a bit light, but it's actually every bit as quick as a Focus through the bends. I was as surprised as Blue Oval will be if he drives one.

Had a good look at a Focus today in the local showroom.The first thing that got my attention was " The door clunk test ".Instead of a nice dull thump I got a slightly metallic clang.Is this a realistic test of quality ?

Certainly,my old Laguna feels more solid (apart from that blasted heater matrix )

Still my wife liked it ! the Focus that is.

Another car magazine (not naming it, but it had a 3-letter title to do with four-wheeled tin boxes) describes the TDDi engine as sounding like "a skeleton masturbating in a filing cabinet"...
Ford Focus TDCI - Floyd
that will be a metal skeleton then? ;-)

I have a Focus with the 90PS Endura engine and it certainly rattles when stationary, but it's not so bad when you are moving.

Some who have driven the TDCi and the older TDi (or is it TDDi?) actually prefer the older engine, even though it is less powerful. One comment I have heard is the old engine has smoother power delivery. Can't comment upon this myself as I ain't driven the TDCi.

Fuel consumption is practically the same, and CO2 is pretty low for both.

I wouldn't mind the extra horse power though...
Ford Focus TDCI - Blue {P}
I probably would HJ, unfortunately the only Toymota that I've driven at present is a Yaris T-Sport. Nice quick little car, and I suppose if given the choice, I would take it over my standard Fiesta, but not over a Zetec-S mind...

I wouldn't mind driving the Corolla to find out what it's like, but I still couldn't bring myself to spend money on a car that doesn't have either:
a) A Blue Oval Badge
b) A Blue and White Propellor
c) A 3 pointed star

or even...
d) A shiney Jaguar badge :) Ooops, that's a Ford isn't it? :)
