I had a trip around MG dealers today, with a view to buying an MGZT. I offered my 18 month old Passat 1.8T SE as P/X. Offers made varied between £9-11000. This on a car that was on VW Forecourts for £14995 six months ago. (Thankfully I got it quite a bit cheaper-the power of the internet.)
I chose the VW because all the motoring press suggested it held its value better than any other car in this segment. Proof indeed that you can't believe everything you read in the papers.
And no, I didn't take up their offer.

It did hold its value better than any other car in its segment (as long as you regard BMWs as being in a different segment).
