Had a look at the Amarok yesterday at the not so local VW commercial dealer (not being sold or serviced by normal VW dealers) and I like it.
Big imposing front end (on 18" rims) a la Touareg but other dimensions in and out seemed similar to my old 07 Ranger, nice quality feel to the fittings and interior, (rear seats more comfortable than the Ranger)
The model show was a LHD model destined for Sweden so wasn't UK spec and VW are only expect to be moving 700 units this year, starting taking orders from Mar/Apr.
Prices on the 3 trim levels still to be fixed but start at around £17k up to £24k +vat
