Hi,
I have been looking round some sites for a new mini and got a quote on each for the following:
MINI One
Salt Pack
15inch alloys
Chrome bumpers
TLC Pack
so far these are my figures:
Drive the deal - terrible £6.50 saving!!!!!
micronetshowroom - £850 saving but without TLC and is an import so probably around £300 saving
UK Car Broker does not have it on their website but im not sure it will be any better....
So far i aint having much luck! - im still tempted by micronet as i plan to keep the car for some time so resale wont be an issue. But the TLC pack is good value on UK cars...
If you know of any better deals elsewhere - i.e. what a dealer should give off (if anything!!) or of any websites PLEASE leave a message!
cheers

Poor build and reliability on early cars, one to avoid i think

Well I am pretty much sold on buying a mini but obviously i want to find a decent price if at all possible.

I too think they look great, but reliability is the top of my wish list. As for decent discounts strong demand makes this a non starter. For mini problems search the mini1 web site.
Sorry sent the wrong message.

Thing is, the mini is perhaps the best small car produced in terms of desirability, residuals and also running costs (tlc pack for £100 - 5 years servicing).
I have definitely decided to buy one as there are no other decent small cars in the same league in my view.
206 = Nice looks, shame about the interior and driving position (also unreliable)
fabia = great price, bland looks and although skoda is a new brand with vw support, the name still sounds naff in my opinion :-D
Lupo/Arosa = german build quality and residuals but too small and girly too
New fiesta = 1.4 is only zetec version available and is gutless - 5dr only at the moment only, clinical looks
there are others but not gonna go into them all - believe me - been through them all!
So new mini is definitely the winner....but where to buy!?

A new Yaris for around 7k, have you driven it?(chain cam). Even the Micra, new models going for around 5.5k!

www.brtownsdirect.co.uk have MINI Coopers with various option packs and paint finishes from £13,550 to £13,880. This is not yet a discounted car. It will be as soon as next year's new small roadsters hit the scene. But not now.

Hi,
Been looking at all of the models and the yaris has made an appearance.
The T-Sport 1.5 is an interesting little car, however i am not that keen on the cars looks - it is sporty but looks more like a minature MPV due to its high sides. The price is very good but when looking at it at the motorshow the interior seemed all plastic compared to the mini.
Insurance isnt a problem on it though and can probably stretch to say Group 10.
If you can think of a used car which may be suitable will consider it - doesnt have to be a current model. However, i am pretty sold on the mini now.

The new Seat Ibiza PD 130 would be in a similar price bracket to the Mini, but far better equipped and probably (?) as much fun to drive. But if you're really sold on a Mini, then you could always put a deposit down on two, then sell your place in the queue to someone even more desperate than you. According to the fat bloke on TG, Minis just haven't depreciated, although I'd check the Autotrader to verify this first. Also check what sort of prices they've fetched on ebay.
Genuine savings off list won't really come your way, but think of it like this - most cars bought brand new for say £12k will be down to £10k or less within a year. Cost to you in depreciation - let's say £1500. However, buy a Mini for £12k including some options, sell after a year for £11500, buy a new one. Cost to you - £500. Overall saving after 1 year £1000. Alright, that's simplistic and probably not very accurate, but it's still within shouting distance.

Yea i was listening to the fat bloke from TG too - (shame we dont know what his name is cause it sounds awful calling him that!)
If i could get say £200 off from a dealer it would be good because there is such a price differential between the import brokers and the dealerships.
I nearly brought a fiesta zetec s (old shape) on a 2002 plate about 1 month ago but unfortunately i had a bad experience with motorpoint and pulled out. I am actually quite pleased i did now as a mini is definitely what im after.
I looked on drivethedeal.com and on most cars there was at least £600/700 off each vehicle...and then i did a quote on the mini and it was like £6! i guess its no real surprise but its remarkable how its held its value and i guess thats what you pay for...

Trade Sales (Slough) had some Coopers when i visited on thursday. Might be worth a phone call to see if any ONES are in stock or due in.
Just an Idea.... Try asking some BMW dealers if their demonstrators are up for sale. These are usually well specced and you might get a little off the list price.
