The world's tiniest V12 engine... - RicardoB

If you appreciate engineering - and models, then you'll like this video.

I think it's amazing and a sort of work of art too.

That is so darn cute !

Lovely piece of work, and it's a diesel, no sign of a DPF however...

That actually is cute. Alas the titles on the video appear to be in Spanish or Portugese.

Compressed air engine only I'm afraid!

Amazing feat though.

Most of those miniature engines are turned out using just a milling machine and a lathe. Pretty incredible. Nil points for being non firing though!

Unless it's a trick of the camera - mucho valve bounce going on too! Still, well done to the fella.

Here's a flat-12 that actually works:

What makes you think its a diesel ? and a DPF isn`t fitted to the engine in any case.

What makes you think its a diesel ?

No spark plugs

Haha no fuel, ignition or exhaust systems on the engine. Its on compressed air !

So effectively it's a steam engine then? Most basic steam engines may be run on compressed air, although anything with subsequent expansion cylinders will not run well.

An amazing piece of model engineering.

At first I was puzzled by the fact it has conventional valves but is 2-stroke ( the camshafts' drive gearing is 1:1, not 1:2 as for 4-stroke) But compressed air drive would explain that.

Here's a miniature V12 that really is internal combustion, though:
