Complaint - Check Posting Mechanism - Honestjohn

Had a complaint from a Backroomer that his posts vanished as soon as he clicked on 'post message', so this is to find out if the same happens to this post.

Seems to be an Internet Explorer issue. I find that if my post disappears, using the browser back button, 're-displays' the post (in a different font!), and if I press the 'post message' button again, the post usually appears.

Yes that resolved the problem. Very odd! Many thanks.

Thanks for that tip, Auristocrat. In general, as I've said often, it's best to use Google Chrome or Firefox: anything other than Internet Explorer.

Hello Avant, when you say 'use' Google Chrome or Firefox, what do you mean? I just type in HJ, up pops the website and I login. I have no idea what I am 'using'. How do I select what to use? It all seems to just happen. I too have had post messages go missing, especially if I use the back button to return to the forum, that sometimes removes the reply I wished to post, so now I click on back room and go back in that way. I am from the steam age and can use a laptop as a typewriter etc but probably only use 2% of the functions, programmes etc that are available. Ignorance abounds!!! Cheers Concrete

Website orientation is a bit eccentric, but we like it that way

Doesn't work very well from an Android phone but on a proper computer (iMac) with a decent browser (Safari) it works fine.

Concrete: You can alwasy download a 2nd or even 3rd browser and keep as standby. You may find you prefer it to one of the Explorers.

Firefox: www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/

Chrome: www.google.co.uk/chrome

Firefox always my favorite...

Thanks HJ, if I download it will it work automatically when I access the Internet or do I need go into the new programme and go from there? May seem a silly question but I really am a novice. I must say though that I really enjoy this technology and the immediacy of forums such as ours. Regards Concrete

I sympathise, Concrete! I've used computers since the 1980s and I'm probably still a novice. I know what you mean - you just go into your internet provider and carry on. In many cases that's automatically Internet Explorer: it is with my previous provider (AOL) and my current BT Internet.

If you want to use one of the others, it's easy to get an icon on to the desktop and then you can go straight in.
