Toyota Yaris - Spring failure at 13675 miles - iansant

My wife's 2008 Yaris has just failed its MOT at 13675 miles. The cause was a problem with a spring. We live in a rural area with only a few speed bumps in the nearest town. Is this to be expected at such a low mileage?

If a broken spring is the problem its only to be expected with the condtion of the roads and can happen at any age
