We've just updated www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/ so it now shows how many mpgs have been submitted in total and by make (eg: www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/bmw), plus a whole lot more. But the more mpgs can be added, the better this service will be, enabling carbuyers to get a true idea of what a car will really do in real life before they put their money down, rather than trust the EC CO2 tax certification lab test figures. We don't want to get into an argument with the EC about their figures because fairer figures could mean higher taxes. We just want to show what real drivers can really expect.
The figures we show are an average of an average of an average, whether the cars are driven in towns or in cities, whether drivers trust their fuel meters or work it out properly allowing for odometer error. An average is the most reliable guide, so the more drivers who contribute to that average, the more representative it will be.
