How about a link on the left here, to a list of cars that should be avoided? The Mondeo TDci and Renault Laguna can kick it off for starters! Might save people lots of cash, grief and hassle?

Is there enough room :-)
Seriously though, it's surprising how many people have awful experiences with their cars then go and buy another, just the same !!

Agree, V-m. There must be at least one contributor to this site who has had a bad experience for almost every model available. As always, one mainly hears the bad news. Perhaps the Recall Register is just as representative?

Can't do this because it could be libellous. One thing to condemn a car on the basis of a lot of evidence. Quite another to allow anyone to call their model of car a lemon just because they have had trouble with it.

I bought an item of citrous fruit from a shop.

Would I be on thin legal ice if I called *it* a lemon?

'Cos it was.

I won't name the supplier.

Toad,

Your incessant need to post a humourous comment to each and every thread is beginning to irritate me.

I have no wish to remove humour from the site, but a little more restraint would be appreciated.

And at this point I am being polite.

Mark.

Jezza Clarkson condemned the Vectra. Didn't stop millions being sold though.
He rated a certain Alfa Romeo (IIRC) It bombed.

Such a link would open the floodgates for all those weird people who just didn't like french diesels on principal for some strange reason.

Besides, it's a 'Citroën', not a 'citron' !!

:-)

HJ's prerogative of course but this forum is full of posts from people bemoaning their cars and the various marques (with nothing to substantiate their claims) so I don't see how collating all these creates any additional significant legal issues.

Can't really see too many people wasting their time producing multiple,
malicious posts just to rubbish a particular make/model.

SWMBO wants a new(er) car, and she's found the GTC site. She got me to trawl through HJ at the weekend to see which cars should be looked at and which should be avoided, I was able to narrow my choice down enough just from the cbcb and a few reader's posts. She wants something Mondeo/Vectra - ish, no older than S reg, no more than 4 grand, must be manual not auto, and not a V6 :-( , but as many toys as poss, cheap to run and service, insurance group less than 14.
Ran a mile from Vectras, 406s and Xantias, looked at a couple of Primera SLXs, a brace of Avensis CDXs, an Accord SE and a fully loaded Mondy Ghia X, which I wouldn't have given 3 seconds to if HJ didn't rate it. At the moment it's looking like the Ford will be getting the nod.

Didn't think it was possible to libel a company or organisation ?
