Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake revealed at Geneva Motor Show

A five-door estate, closely related to the A-Class and CLA Coupe, the 2019 CLA Shooting Brake sits in a class of its own - there are no estate versions of the Audi A3 or BMW 1 Series.

There's just one engine confirmed for the model so far: a four-cylinder petrol range-topper, badged the CLA 250. It has 225PS and 350Nm of torque and is paired with Mercedes-Benz's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

By the time the CLA Shooting Brake goes on sale in the autumn, it'll be offered with a full range of petrol and diesel engines, as well as manual and automatic transmissions and two- or four-wheel-drive.

Naturally, the CLA Shooting Brake has the same tech-packed interior as the CLA Coupe and A-Class, including Mercedes-Benz's clever voice-controlled MBUX operating system that operates the infotainment and navigation system.

Described by its German manufacturer as a 'sports car with load space', the CLA Shooting Brake is longer and wider than its predecessor, with 505-litres of boot space - up 10 litres from before. Significantly, though, the 871mm wide boot opening is considerably bigger than the old CLA Shooting Brake.

Thanks to its improved camera and radar systems, the CLA can monitor the road up to 500m ahead, giving it partially-autonomous capability.

Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S Shooting Brake revealed

Mercedes-AMG has announced the CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Shooting Brake will have 421PS and cover 0-62mph in 4.0 seconds when it arrives in the UK towards the end of 2019.

It'll feature variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, offering selective power distribution to the rear wheels via AMG torque control. A standard drift mode promises an exciting drive on track.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol producing 421PS and 500Nm of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission while AMG's Dynamic Select system offers selectable drive modes.

There are yellow highlights throughout the interior, along with an AMG Performance steering wheel amd ambient lighting.

With a 871mm boot opening, the boot opening is significantly wider than the previous model, while 505-litres of luggage space means it's a practical choice.
