The end of the road for the Suzuki Jimny
Suzuki has confirmed that its quirky off-roader will be axed from the range. The move comes as the carmaker aims to hybridise it's model line-up and meet CO2 emissions regulations.
The future of the compact 4x4 was already up in the air after Suzuki UK said it would only be sold "in very limited numbers throughout 2020". A brand spokesperson has confirmed that "once existing and limited number dealer allocations to customers are fulfilled over the next 4-5 months", it will be axed from the range.
Non-electrified variants of all Suzuki models are down to dealer stock only and the Jimny is no longer available to order from new. This is mostly due to the adverse effect it has on the brand’s fleet average CO2 emissions. Even the cleanest Jimny produces 154g/km of CO2 - which is well above the 95g/km fleet average Suzuki needs to meet next year.

There's a possibility that the Jimny could be brought back as a commercial vehicle in future, with the rear seats removed - but this is yet to be confirmed.
Suzuki’s wider range now consists of the Vitara and S-Cross, smaller Swift and Swift Sport and the Ignis city car. The Suzuki Across SUV - produced in partnership with Toyota - will also be Suzuki's first model with a plug-in hybrid setup when it launches in autumn.
