Geneva Motor Show 2016: Citroen SpaceTourer lands
Citroen has taken the logical next step in its quest to lead the way when it comes to massive people movers with this, the van-based SpaceTourer. Launched at the Geneva Motor Show, it goes on sale late 2016 with prices yet to be confirmed.
It’s a crossover of sorts, combining the space of a van with refinement and quality more akin to an MPV – and like a van, it comes in various body sizes on two wheelbases.
The shortest is 4.6 metres long and the longest 5.3 metres, while the cabin can be specified with five- to nine seats. Two specifications are available, called Feel and Business, the former aimed at family buyers and the latter at taxi drivers.
Car-like features include a dashboard that’s not entirely wheelie bin specification plastic, a touchscreen media system incorporating Apple Carplay, a more sophisticated suspension setup than the average Tranny, safety systems including automatic low speed braking, and a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
The car you see above is the Hyphen version, which is a pseudo off road variant designed to do nothing more than draw attention to Citroen’s stand. The standard car has less plastic cladding and less garish paint.
