Mercedes-Benz announces prices for new S-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the pricing for the new S-Class Coupe, which will arrive in the UK in September. The range will start from £96,565 for the S500 Coupe AMG Line and climb to a staggering £183,065 for the range topping S65 AMG.

The S-Class replaces the outgoing CL-Class and features a Magic Body Control system, which means the car leans into bends, by up to 2.5 degrees, to keep the car flat when going through corners.

The range will start at £96,565 for the S500 Coupe AMG Line, which is powered by the twin-turbo 4663cc V8 petrol, used in the outgoing the CL. However, power output increases from 435PS to 455PS while emissions fall to 219 g/km. Top speed will be limited to 155mph, but 0-62mph acceleration will take less than five seconds.  

The S63 AMG will cost £125,595 and feature a 5.5-litre V8, with 585PS and a whopping 900Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0-62mph will take less than four seconds and emissions will be 237 g/km.

The range topping S65 AMG will cost £183,065 and be powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, with 630PS and a world spinning 1000Nm of torque. Acceleration to 62mph from a standstill will take four seconds, while emissions will be 279 g/km. Mercedes-Benz also claims the S65 AMG will return 27.9mpg.

Standard equipment will be decent across the range and include Active Parking Assist with a reversing camera, panoramic roof, a TFT 12.3-inch colour display, Magic Vision Control system, Command Online and a choice of nine metallic paint options.

The S65 AMG gets more toys though, with Magic Body Control, Burmester surround sound system, head-up display, TV Tuner, 360 camera, and Night View Assist.

There’ll also be a comprehensive options list, with a Premium Package (£4995 when applied to the S500) and this adds 20-inch alloy wheels, illuminated door sills, the Seat Comfort Pack, Keyless-Go Package, Burmester sound system, Climatised Seats to keep you cool or warm and a 360 camera.

The AMG Exterior Carbon-fibre Package (£5000) adds carbon-fibre elements to the outside of the car while the AMG Night Package (£765) offers the AMG sports exhaust system with two black chrome finished twin tailpipes, and high-gloss black highlights.

The S63 AMG and S65 AMG will reach the UK in September, with the S500 Coupe AMG Line arriving early 2015.
