New Ford Mustang gets from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds
Ford has announced performance figures for the new Mustang, which can get from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds with the 5.0-litre V8 or 5.8 seconds with the 2.3-litre EcoBoost. The Mustang will cost from £28,995 when it arrives in autumn 2015. The video below show’s Ford’s 0-62mph test run in the V8.
Both the 421PS 5.0-litre V8 and 317PS 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost are available with manual or automatic transmissions, in convertible and coupe body styles.
Emissions and economy aren’t particularly impressive – the 5.0-litre V8 emits 281g/km in its cleanest form (automatic coupe), which equates to 23.5mpg. The most frugal variant of the EcoBoost is the coupe manual, which manages 35.3mpg and emits 179g/km.
Production of UK cars starts in summer at the Ford plant in Flat Rock, Michigan, USA. UK-bound cars come with 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, xenon headlights, nine-speaker audio, and an eight-inch touchscreen with Ford Sync.
