2022 Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer release date
The all-new 2022 Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer estate is available to buy now and first deliveries are expected to start in late summer, which means the first cars will arrive in August or September. Buyers get the choice of two trim levels - Design and GS-Line - with prices starting at £25,005 for the entry-level Design and rising to £27,900 for the sporty GS-Line. The new Vauxhall will rival the Ford Focus Estate, Toyota Corolla Touring Sports and Hyundai i30 Tourer.
2022 Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer styling and interior
The 2022 Astra Sports Tourer mirrors the styling of the new Astra hatchback, with a pointy 'Vauxhall Vizor' nose and large air intakes built into the front bumper. The swept back headlights feature LED light signatures while a plastic panel grille houses the redesigned Griffin logo and various driver and safety aids.
At the rear, the new Griffin logo sits at the centre of the tailgate and you get the same vertically aligned, high-mounted LED brake lights as the Astra hatchback.
The new Vauxhall estate is 60mm shorter than the old Sports Tourer due to its short front overhang while the overall width of the car is 1860mm wide. This means, on paper at least, the 2022 Astra Sports Tourer is 182mm narrower than the car it replaces, but we would treat this figure with caution as it isn’t clear if this number includes the door mirrors.

The 2022 Astra Sports Tourer will be more comfortable and provide more passenger space than ever before with the estate model sitting on a wheelbase that's 57mm longer than the new hatchback. The boot of the petrol and diesel models provide 608 litres of storage space with the rear seats in place, extending to 1,634 litres when you lower the second row. Boot space drops to 548 litres and 1,574 litres, respectively, for the plug-in hybrid due to the location of the battery pack under the car floor.
Standard equipment levels will be high, with all models getting a large and colourful 10-inch infotainment screen at the centre of the dashboard. The driver also gets a digital instrument binnacle that's displayed on a second 10-inch screen behind the steering wheel. DAB audio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and climate control are also standard across the Astra Sports Tourer range.
2022 Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer engines
You can have your new Vauxhall estate with petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid power. Vauxhall hasn't released any CO2 or fuel economy figures but has confirmed the engine line-up will include a 1.2 petrol, 1.5 diesel and 1.6 plug-in petrol hybrid.
The three-cylinder petrol engine will be identical to the 1.2 PureTech found in the 2022 Peugeot 308 and be offered with 110PS or 130PS in the Astra Sports Tourer, along with the choice of a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The 1.5 diesel is limited to 130PS while the plug-in hybrid will be the most powerful powertrain with a combined output of 180PS. The hybrid will also be capable of travelling up to 42 miles on pure electricity.
