MG launches seven year warranty on new ZS - but won't tell us what's covered
MG has introduced a seven-year warranty on the new ZS - but doesn't seem very keen on telling us exactly what is covered.
The MG website states that the seven-year/80,000-mile warranty comes with a guarantee that genuine parts will be used for any replacements.
But despite repeated requests for information on what is actually covered, hardly a big ask, MG has so far not been able to tell us.
MG already offers a five-year warranty on the smaller GS, so introducing a seven-year warranty shows that the brand must have confidence in its new model range.

Indeed, the only other brand to offer a similarly lengthy manufacturer-backed warranty is of course Kia, with its seven-year/100,000 mile scheme. And it's clear on its website what is covered.
Hyundai, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Toyota and SsangYong all offer a standard five-year warranty. SsangYong's looks particularly impressive with no mileage limit plus it covers brake discs and clutch components for a year or 12,000 miles. Again, this is all stated on its website. Renault meanwhile offers a four-year warranty.
It's also not clear whether the MG warranty on the ZS is a fully-backed manufacturer warranty or simply the existing five-year cover with an aftermarket warranty covering the remainder.
While the MG ZS may not be the best crossover on the market (by quite some margin...), a seven-year warranty - along with low list prices - does make it a more attractive proposition. Strange then that MG won't tell us what is covered by that warranty...
