Halifax Car Buying Guide
Halifax launch Car Buying Guide as result of HonestJohn.co.uk survey
HonestJohn.co.uk ran a survey in conjunction with Halifax to find out how people in the market for a new set of wheels really felt about the car buying process. Do they know where to look and what to look for? Are they confident in knowing their payment options? Do they find the process too stressful?
Our research revealed some very interesting results.
There was almost an even split of purchasers intending to buy new versus buying used, at 46% and 54% respectively.
Two thirds of respondents find the car buying process a stressful one and nearly 40% didn’t feel confident in handling the paperwork involved – suggesting they would find some guidance useful.
A huge 95% said they would negotiate on price, which is great news – but there are many other areas that can be used in deal negotiations too, such as warranty and servicing packages.
In terms of paying for the car, 59% said they were planning to pay with cash – yet these buyers may not all be aware of the pros and cons of this method.
23% like to pay for their car with finance – but with nearly half of respondents preferring to buy from a franchised dealer, these buyers should be aware that the finance plan doesn’t necessarily have to be taken through the dealer themselves.
To help make the car buying process more enjoyable and less stressful, Halifax has published a guide to help buyers through the car buying journey every step of the way – to remove any worry and ensure buyers are clear on what to look out for.
