poor but, total respray had been carried out. In consequence I have obtained an HPI check of the car, which shows nothing untoward, and now intend to approach the dealer to see how he proposes to deal with my son’s (presumably) reasonable complaint. The car could have been crashed, repaired and repainted. If it had not been an insurance total loss it would not have been recorded by HPI. The dealer isn't liable unless he told your son that the car had never been damaged or repainted.
