I put a deposit on a Hyundai 1.6 CRDI Comfort 58 pre Reg with 30 miles on the clock. It was a very good price: £9,799 at Hyundai/SEAT Dealers Coupers of St Albans (shows as £10,199 onsite). I took the car out and all seemed OK. However, I mentioned to the salesman that the discs had some corrosion on them to which he replied, “its just surface rust and will soon wear off.” I'm picking the car up in two days. Should I get something in writing from the garage to cover me if the rust is more serious than he suggests? What problems can this cause? Could it be an MOT failure when it comes to its 1st MOT?

Reads like a good buy to me. Probably Korean rather then Czech Republic built. You can find out almost exactly when it was built from the dates on the tags on the seatbelts. Discs are bare metal so will suffer surface corrosion when left outside in the winter. If the corrosion has eaten into the discs you will be able to see this after a few hard brakings have cleared the surface corrosion off.
