Car declared total loss. Insurance company has not sent me the tax disc. I can't claim refund. What do I do?
I had a brake failure and my Nissan Micra was declared a total loss by my insurance company in Aug 2010.
My insurance company took a long time to settle a reasonable payment for my Nissan Micra. Not having much knowledge about cars as my ex dealt with everything, I have just realised that I am entitled to road/car tax refund which I had paid £110 in July 2010.
The insurance company hasn't sent me the car tax disc so I can't claim the tax refund. I bought another car in Sept and I paid £200 for this car. I find it is almost impossible to get through to my insurance company via the phone or the email. What should I do next?

Unless you physically have the tax disc you can't claim it and you would have needed to do that immediately anyway. You can't claim retrospectively.
