Parking ticket issued while in my designated parking space

For over a month, I have rented a flat which included an allocated parking spot in the secure parking garage. When I signed the contract, the agency gave me a pass which I was to display every time I was parked in the space to avoid being ticketed. Last night, I returned from a tiring drive from Newcastle and as a result, I forgot to display my parking pass on the dashboard. I woke up this morning to find a parking fine for £100 (£75 if paid within 14 days)
Admittedly, I did forget to display my pass; however I don't believe the sum of money they are asking for is fair as the only person I could be depriving the parking space from is myself.

No, it isn't fair, so don't pay and tell them to take you to court over it.
