Buying a new family car
We live up a very steep country lane and have been snowed in despite autosocks the last few winters because of the ice and compacted snow. For our next car we are trying to find cars which have a switch to turn on 4X4 so we don't lose out on fuel economy for most of the year but we can have the benefit of 4X4 when need it.

Cars with 4WD employ 4WD automatically so there is no switch. You get it when you need it. You don't when you don't. Only cruder 4WDs lime Suzuki Jimnys and Vitaras have a switch to physically employ 4WD.
