Bad vibrations - diesel E-Class estate

When smoothly accelerating, my 2003 Mercedes Benz E-Class Estate 'shudders' and vibrates! There was no fault shown when plugged in to diagnostic computer, and it doesn't happen when accelerator is not engaged.

Reads like the Valeo radiator automatic transmission fluid heat exchanger problem.
