Advise on Corsa EcoFlex replacement with Mini One D

I've asked advise and taken it several times regarding car purchase from HJ.
My girlfriend has owned a Vauxhall Corsa 1.3CDTi Ecoflex since new and it's now done 55000 miles and if approaching four years old.
As she does approx 20,000 a year ideally this would be replaced with another fuel efficient car.
We've had a few problems with the Corsa the most recent the turbo packed in and was part paid for by Vauxhall. As a result of about four issues with the car she's not too keen on another Vauxhall.
I have owned a 500 (diesel) and now the 500 abarth (after John's advise). She'd love a 500/500C but they're rather expensive.
I've shown her the Kia Picanto, Mazda 2, Ibiza, MiniOne and also mentioned the Swift and i20.
She doesn't like the Mazda (which with the 0 VAT and Interest I thought would be a good choice), saying it feels cheap, I suspect she'll say the same about the swift. She didn't mind the Picanto too much but she wasn't that impressed with the style and I'm not 100% the Petrol engine will really return the MPG they say.
We looked at mini one Diesels previously but found them just too expensive.
In the last couple of days there's been a number of pre-registered mini one D's about and she's been to look a few which are basically on offer at £13999. These have pepper packs, basic blue tooth, etc. the TLC pack, etc. and would retail at £16800. I accept these are effectively second hand.
The corsa is a Breeze 1.3 CDTi Ecoflex (75BHp version) in black. They have offered £4000 in P/X against a mini which we didn't think was bad as they only offered this a year ago.
Do you know if there's a chance mini will be offering hugh discounts in the near future ? I'm aware the current mini is due to be replaced (do you think we should avoid the mini because of this ?). She likes the mini, style and ride but I've pointed out the much higher cost and as a result you stand to lose more (even though the mini holds it's value well).
We'd not want something expensive on insurance, etc.

I'd go for the Picanto 2 1.25 ISG at £1,195. Petrol is cheaper than diesel. No diesel particulate filter or duel mass flywheel or (in the Picanto's case) no turbo, no EGR and no timing belt PLUS she gets a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. The FIAT 500 Multijet is brilliant on paper but can have DMF and DPF problems, and it is the same engine as her current Corsa.
