Three into Two

We have been a three-car, but two-driver, family for years now, but age is creeping in and the hassle of taxing, MoTing, insuring and servicing three cars every year is too much. Also, two of the cars were very elderly with all the looming problems that age brings. For the future, two cars is definitely the maximum. We had: a 1990 Jaguar Sovereign 5.3 litre V12 Series III saloon, which is now sold. A 1994 Suzuki Vitara 1.6 petrol manual 4x4 that has been sold We still have a 2004/56 Honda Accord VTech 2-litre auto saloon. That will be sold. We bought a 2005 3-litre Jaguar XJ Sovereign to replace the old V12. Now we need a second car: 4x4 – preferably switchable but permanent would do. 2.0 litre petrol engine. Automatic. 5 door with a side opening rear door. A sunroof would be great for transporting long objects, but not essential. Preferably top of the range model. As new as possible and good for 7 years.

On that spec a Toyota RAV-4 2.0i Valvematic S-drive CVT auto. If you have a bit more money, a BMW F25 X3 2.0d 8-speed auto. Or, of course, a Range Rover Evoque.
