Exchanging diesel for petrol
I need to change my diesel Octavia to a petrol version and a Skoda dealer is offering a 12plate 1.4 TSI Octavia Elegance DSG, 13000 miles for £15000 against £6500 for the 58 plate Octavia ambiente DSG, 31000 miles, diesel (but i feel that is low for its mileage) Can you comment on values please and make relevant suggestions.

The book's up the creek with Octavia 1.4TSIs. Doesn't know about them. List new is £17,750, so I think a £2,750 'discount' isn't enough for a 12 reg with 13k miles. For your 2008/58 he should be offering £7,000 for the mileage, so unless you can chip at least £1,500 off the balance I'd say walk away.
