6/7 year old A6 Avant - what to look for?

Having recently started a family, we are in need of a load lugger. We've compared A4/A6 Avants, 5 series Touring and a C-Class estate, and have decided that the A6 ticks the most boxes, with the cavernous boot being a major plus (we tend not to travel light!).

Our budget is around £9k, which seems to get you a 6/7 year old 2.0 TDi with average-ish miles. Most examples I've seen have had a cam belt change. What else should I be looking out for?

The 2.0TDI is a problem engine and the 2.7TDI has problems too. You'd better check the entry in www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar
