New petrol automatic hatchback: Ceed 4 Tech DCT or Civic EX GT?

Still enjoy your Telegraph column after many years. As per title, my wife and I, who cover about 7000 miles per year, are looking for a new car, having had our 2006 Civic ES 1.8 since new (which we will keep as a second car.) I will ask local dealers for prices, but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with Drive-the-deal or another broker. I have also just found out about Bob Gerard in Leicestershire, who import Civics from Europe (they tell me the only difference is the warranty is 60k not 90k, and there is no AA membership included, otherwise the cars are UK spec.)

I would welcome any comments about the relative merits of the Ceed vs. Civic, and about my purchasing plans.

Bob Gerard has a very good reputation and even seems to get some support from Honda UK. Of course, a cee'd comes with a 7 year warranty. I'm impressed with the old Civic 1.8iES from which I got 45mpg long distance, the new Civiv 1.8iES from which I got 48mpg long distance and the new Civic 1.6iDTEC from which I got 70mpg + on a short test. Ugly car, but ugly for a good reason.
