Why did a Speed Awareness Course increase my insurance premium?
I selected and paid for my car insurance via a comparison website, but I was later contacted and asked if I had been on a Speed Awareness Course. I said that I had. The premium went up by £53. This was later refunded after I complained, but the company said that I would have to declare on future renewals. On the website the only relevant question was "Have you had any Motoring Convictions in the last five years?"

Do not re-insure with any insurer that penalises you for taking a speed awareness course instead of points unless, of course, you cannot do better than their premium with the penalty added.
