Nissan Micra making strange nosies

My son has recently bought a 2003 Nissan Micra SX. When we test drove it we noted a marked noise/vibration through the car when you hit 30-40mph. He has now collected the car but despite the garage saying they would sort it the problem still exists.

What should he do and what is the likely problem? Having looked on line it seems that wheel bearings might be the cause which obviously need to be sorted.
