Why do new cars always have their headlights on?
What setting is it on new cars that allows them to drive with their front head lights on, but no rear lights? I have noticed this a lot, especially in the fog and rain. I assume it some kind of automatic setting that the driver isn't aware of or has forgotten about.

Daytime Running Lights. Compulsory on all new cars so they can be seen coming. But when drivers get into their cars and the front DRLs come on they think the rear lights have come on too. it can be very hard to wake them up to the fact that the rear lights have not come on.
