New timing chain required on BMW X3 - what are my rights?
I brought a 2007 BMW X3 in June from a dealer in Lymington, Hants. The car seemed to be in good condition and I was assured of the reliability of BMW's. Last month I had to have a new turbo fitted costing £1000 then on Saturday I broke down and have now been advised that a new timing chain / engine is required which will cost £3200. I phoned the garage to see what they were prepared to do to help but they refused anything saying that the car was outside of its 3 month warranty. What is the best way to handle this in the small claims court ?

What 3 month warranty? Any fault that occurs within 6 months of purchase is deemed to have been present or developing on the date the car was sold and the dealer is liable for it. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
