How to tell winter tyres from summer tyres?

I recently bought an old Citroen Berlingo Multispace as a temporary workhorse. I think it has mixed summer and winter tyres on it. How do you tell the difference between the two from the side wall information?

A snowflake and/or mountains symbol on the sidewall, and a lot of fine sipes in the tread pattern. For safety, cold weather or all weather tyres should only ever be fitted to all four wheels.
